There's no real formula for how to make friends (here or anywhere, really). You can browse the various Portals (Movie, Games, Audio, and [drawn] Art), see what resonates with you and expand the list of artists you follow as well as the list of works from other artists you want to feature in your favorites. Maybe your submissions here will resonate with some of the artist you follow and you can get talking that way.
You're already followed by @Tango, which is a pretty good start. :)
The forums are also a place where some users choose to socialize.
